Episode 18: Rock, Rock, Sex Talk

Chris and Joel are once again joined by Andrew Staff for an episode filled with discussion on Christian rock (isn't this breaking one of our rules?), basketball shorts, Wes Anderson, and Chris forces Joel and Andrew to listen to the latest Kiss album "Sonic Boom". Chris' hard drive almost crashed while editing this one so we might be having a fundraiser in order to buy a new one....or we'll just blow the money on Asian hookers and fireworks. Either way send some love our way at assembliesofpod@gmail.com

October

On behalf of Joel and Derek I'd like to say thank you for our biggest downloading month to date. I'm amazed how quickly this silly little show has spread. I can tell you that the shows will get better and you should see them on more of a regular basis. I'm currently finishing up episode 16 and should hopefully have it up before Halloween night so you can have something to listen to while you are recuperating from your sugar (and possible alcohol) binge on Sunday morning.

Be excellent to each other,
-Chris

P.S. I'm sure Joel is dressed as a cop this year....har har.

Episode 14: Jarmuschy

Chris and Joel discuss the differences between films Away We Go and Broken Flowers. Roman Polanski's current situation is discussed in a rare moment of topical conversation, but not to fear as they clearly have no idea as to what is going on....as usual. Episode 8: Bayhem

Derek is in town, but Joel is not....funny how they're never in the same room together. Anyway, we touch on the death of Michael Jackson and talk way too long about the Lord of the Rings: Extended Cut DVDs, which I can't seem to find in my collection.....let me know if you borrowed it. ;)

VHS Classics #1: Troll 2

The day has come at last. This is the debut of what will hopefully be a monthly segment we call VHS Classics. This first installment finds us watching Troll 2 and giving it quite the round table discussion.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Episode #6: Cashin' Checks & Snappin' Necks

We are back and we obviously had a lot to say. This is a big episode for us as it clocks in at around an hour and forty five minutes. We discuss Joel's trip to the U.K., upcoming and release movies, what we're listening to, and Joel comes through with another great story from "The Beat".

Sorry, the playlist above has the episode labeled kind of funky and I don't know how to fix it at the moment. Enjoy....

Episode #5: New York Groove

I first feel the need to apologize for all the sniffing that is occuring on this episode. Allergy season hits me pretty hard and I was probably too close to the mic. Anyway, this episode is our Best of 2008 cast. Yeah, I know it's almost June, but we figured it would give us something to talk about and we think you'll enjoy it all the same. Sorry about the delay in show over the past month, but in the next week you should see at least two new casts go up.

Reminder that our Troll 2 screening is taking place Saturday @4:00 Central and we'll hopefully have a webcam setup during screening and the podcast recording. If you miss the live webcast hopefully we'll be able to rebroadcast on our Ustream.tv station.

You probably won't see the episode listed until sometime tonight, but I'm doing this post now since I'll be at Joel's tonight to record Episode #6 and discuss our plans for Saturday.

Feedback is always welcome @ assembliesofpod@gmail.com

Update 5/09/09

Ok, I still need to edit the infamous Episode #5 and since Joel is still laying down the "Orange Crush" overseas I've been slacking on the job, but more episodes are on the way I promise. We are waiting until Joel returns to set a date for our first VHS Classics viewing of Troll: 2.

Keep track of us by subscribing to the blog, joining our myspace or facebook groups, and subscribing to us on iTunes.

While your waiting for us to get our act together you should check out a great podcast called A DAMN MOVIE PODCAST. It's a show out of Salt Lake City and it's full of great movie reviews and awesome discussion. You've heard me ramble on about them before, but if you haven't checked them out yet please do yourself a favor and subscribe to them on iTunes.

Our new player and our new server!

Ok, first thing you'll notice on here is that we have a new podcast player setup. The last player we had up worked fine, but it was something that was available on our old server and since we've been moved to Libsyn they offer all sorts of great features for us, but alas no player. I've rigged up a project playlist player on the top of our page here and it should work like a charm after I've fed it our direct links. Please let me know if you find it not working at any point.

You should also notice that your iTunes is now letting you download Episode #4, well once again that has to do with our transition to the new hosting server. The only snag we seemed to have run into is that with this new server instead of a standard storage size you get a certain size allotted per month. For example, we have 250mb of storage per month and after the month is up the files are archived and we get another 250mb to upload for that month. Well, with the recent move we've hit our allotment and won't be able to upload for a couple of weeks at least.

This is probably a good thing as I still need to edit episode #5 and Joel is off in the U.K. bringing the "Orange Crush" overseas. We'll probably do a special mini-cast to promote the upcoming VHS Classics segment so be on the look out for that.

Ok, I think that about does it. Hopefully we don't hit anymore snags and the next post will be to announce the date for the watch party of Troll 2.

Movin' On Up!

Well, it's going to be awhile before we upload Episode #5 as we are in the process of moving servers. This is all being done by our current server Switchpod to bring us over to this other site Libsyn. I just heard back from Libsyn and they told us it could be another week before we get up and running on the new server. It's a little frustrating, but this should be a better deal for us in the long run as we'll be able to store all our episodes without too much extra cost.

Thanks for all the feedback we've received and our next episode will be our late edition of the Best of 2008 movies and music. We'll also be hosting our first installment of our "VHS Classics" in the next couple of weeks. For those who live nearby you'll have the chance of watching it right along with us an contributing to the cast we'll record following the movie. Our first movie in what hopes to be a monthly spot will be Troll 2, which will be shown on VHS.

So, if all goes according to plan be on the lookout for Episode #5 on the first week of May and our VHS Classics movie Troll 2 to go online hopefully on the week of the 18th.

Thanks again for all the support!

Edit:
Ok, we've been fully switched over to the new server, but we lost our podcast player that was on our blog page in the process. I'm trying to figure out now how to rig something else up.

Episode #4: The Three Amigos

Our server is moving us so I hope everyone downloads this without any problems. iTunes seems to have some trouble finding the new episode so you might have to grab it off the RSS feed or direct from our blog.

Chris and Joel are joined by Derek calling in and hilarity ensues....well...sort of. Topics include Chuck E. Cheese, The Wayne's World Saga, Our new segment VHS Classics, Gremlins 2, and a prostitute sting.

We recorded this one and what will soon be episode 5 in one sitting so be on the look out for that one as well. Episode 5 is a best of 2008 special.....yeah, I know it's April.

Episode #3: Derek's Midnight Special (Two Part Cast)

This episode brings a lot of firsts for us. It's the first cast without Joel, it's the first two-part cast we've done, and it's the first cast that is uncensored. It's our first explicit cast as Chris and Derek let loose a few expletives when discussing the crimes of George Lucas and the disappointing U2 album. However, don't let a few swear words stand between you and a cast of epic proportions. We decided to split up the hour and a half run time into two separate casts. Other topics discussed include Depeche Mode, Star Trek, Derek's future on the show, and a possible new segment.

Lots of big things to come as we head into the summer time and hopefully we can announce them soon.

Joel will be back for the next cast so stay tuned kids!

Time Waits For No Man....Not Even Joel.

There will not be a new cast this week as Joel is on vacation. There should a new one recorded Easter weekend, but Joel will be out of town with family so we're hoping to have a friend of ours step in as special guests. We've tracked a fair amount of downloads for the first episode so thanks to everyone who've been giving us a chance. Make sure and subscribe to either the RSS feed or on iTunes for new episodes. Also, if you're enjoying the show (or not) leaving us a review on our iTunes page would be appreciated. We've got some great topics for shows lined up so stay tuned.

-Chris

**EDIT**
Of course not even an hour after I post Joel calls me at work and tells me he'll have free time on Tuesday before his shift to record a cast so I'll try and get that edited and posted by the middle of this week. So it'll be a little late but you will see a new cast before Easter. Good things happen to those who wait I suppose.

Episode #1: Chris and Joel's Bogus Journey

So today Joel and I set out to record our first cast and from the start the forces of evil were plotting against us. The snow storm rolled in and cast doubt to whether or not I'd be able to make it to Joel's to record the show. It wasn't an easy drive, but I made it and we've got our first episode in the can and ready to give to you the listener.

Chris gets the "Idiot Award" for saying Cary Grant was in Roman Holiday when it was in fact Gregory Peck. Also there are plenty of great actresses in Hollywood currently performing such as Meryl Streep, Kate Blanchett, Amy Ryan, etc. I'm sure that I'll check some flak for that portion of the show, but that's the risk you run.

Ok, and I made the call to bleep the profanity. I figured it best to censor ourselves than to either have someone do it for us or have it ruin someone's enjoyment of the show. I don't have a problem with profanity...obviously, but some do and I can fully understand that.

Anyway, there are two different ways to download this first episode and unfortunately iTunes is still not one of them. I assure you we'll extremely happy when they finally get us published.

The best option is from the RSS feed

Switchpod.com is fairly reliable for the most part and if you use firefox browser that link should take you to a page where you should just be able to right click and save the mp3 file and subscribe to the feed itself.

However, if it doesn't work or you have other difficulties I've uploaded it onto a backup sever

Just click the link and you'll be taken to a page that will allow you to download. Please use this only if the RSS feed isn't working.

Hopefully when our iTunes feed goes online you'll have three options for downloading. Please let us know if you have any problems.

The next cast will more than likely be without Joel, but hopefully it'll be great all the same so stay tuned.

-Chris

**UPDATE**
We still don't have a page setup through iTunes, but here's a link to in which to use iTunes to subscribe. This should make things easier for some of you.
